The final meeting of the participants in training "Designing educational computer games as a form of active student learning".
February 2, 2018 in laboratory GameLab of the Institute of Computer Systems ONPU took place the final meeting of the participants in training "Designing educational computer games as a form of active student learning" in the framework of Erasmus+KA2-project "GameHub: University-Entreprises Cooperation in Game Industry in Ukraine" (561728-EPP-1-2015-1- ES-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP).
During January 2018, the seminar participants developed the project documentation of educational computer games using the knowledge and skills they received during the auditory work in December 2017, taking into account the objectives of the seminar:
1) the formation of teachers' perception of gaming as an effective means of active student learning;
2) gaining practical skills in creating a project of board and computer games for learning;
3) the formation of the idea of the development of computer games.
During the second month, 25 projects of future educational computer games were prepared by the teachers, most of which are related to the topics of the disciplines for ONPU students.
The fragments of individual presentations of the results of design work are presented on youtube-channel GameHub-ONPU - https://youtu.be/gS94P22ButU
Many projects were created following the example of the project of the game "Political Tic-Tac-toe" by the trainer of the seminar Lugovoi T.A, professor of the Department of Information Activities and Media Communications, which she created as a result of the successful passage of the On-Line course "Principles of Game Design at University of Michigan (USA).
In the future, it is planned to transfer the projects of games to students of IT specialties in the form of an additional task while studying disciplines, the topics of which are close to the topics of educational games. With a successful outcome of development and testing, by the end of the spring semester, teachers will receive prototypes of educational computer games that can be introduced into the educational process in the next academic year.
Team GameHub invites all interested teachers to further cooperation.
